Welcome To The Orasa Designs School Activity Website!

Orasa Designs cc is a company dedicated to the development of photography and digital design as an industry. With that in mind Orasa Designs developed a unique program within South Africa, which focuses on the stimulation of prospective advocates of the art from an early age.

During 2008 we developed a process by which we start introducing photography to children at an early age, where we firstly allow them to develop a passion for photography through play and; secondly start introducing them to potential career paths. Finally we shape and hone their newfound passion for photography and digital design by then providing them with advanced techniques and tools to take their skills to a new level.

We show them how photography can either be approached as a career or how photography can enhance other chosen career paths.

Knowledge and enjoyment will not be the only benefits to all the schools and pupils involved in this process. Various other benefits for all involved exist.

We participate in school events during the course of a year, where we sell various goods and display artwork, which can also be purchased. A percentage of these sales will go to the school. The school will also gain from their students winning competitions and the schools will have a full page in the end of year coffee table book, which will feature a design by the students to promote the school.

Some students will be given the opportunity to gain some experience in the industry with holiday work and a few dedicated individuals could find their way into our fold once schools and university studies have been completed.

Orasa Designs will also seek to involve universities in our activities to place the company in a position to guide and develop participating students throughout their studies and eventually guide them into the industry.

We sincerely hope to have your school involved in this unique project in South Africa. By essentially creating a team of schools who place the development of their students first, Orasa Designs and the participating schools will be the leaders in the development and training of the future of the photographic and design industries. We will be in a position to shape the future of the industries and therefore develop the industries, creating more employment opportunities for the youth of South Africa.

Home Schooling Activity

Orasa Designs, as part of our photography drive for the youth of South Africa, now offer our school activity to home schooled students. We have found that home schooling parents face a tremendous challenge in providing the home schooled children with an alternative to the group activities found at schools.

We, therefore, offer the activity to parents who do home schooling. Our aim is to offer small groups of children, children who already might be interacting in other activities offered in the area, a specially adapted version of our school activity.

The home school activity would have the same look and feel as the school activity in terms of the content and basic structure, but would differ in terms of the venues used. We would utilize some of the facilities available in the area like zoos or parks and even the odd house of a participating parent.

The participants of the home school activity will also have their own competition, but will participate in the overall competition.

The portion of the prize going to the school, normally, will be paid to the winning parents to help pay for the studies of the home schooling student, Should one of the home schooling students win the main competition.

We hope to introduce photography as a possible career path with home schooling students and will offer the school activity to home schooling students with the unique challenges faced by the home schooled student in mind, thus broadening their horizons, while offering a safe social activity.
